Countdown to Election: Oct. 31 08-It's 11:30 P. M. so day 4 is going in a few minutes to days 3-2-1 and we will know if it is Obama or Mac is our new president. Yes, don't count out McCain yet I wasn't there for the Truman, Dewey Eleciton but Dewey was called the winner in all the newpapers when the actual winner was Truman. And McCain has been known to come from behind. Oh well! MSNBC burn out is due a vacation. I am voting Postmodern if you know what I mean!
A Plant That Blogs: I am a newby at blogging and not so good yet, I wanted to post a video from MSNBC's zeitgrist, but since I couldn't find it, I'll just tell you about it. Seems the Japanese have invented a plant that you can blog to or with, I don't know if it blogs back.

Who are you voting for?
So election day is fast approaching and I still am unsure of who I will vote for. My mind is soooo full of crap from both sides and I have so much to sort through. This election is so important, probably the most important of my lifetime, so many changes. As I continue to struggle with my decision, what's yours? Are you sure of who you will vote for? Why? Any specific concerns?

Republicans Jumpship Oct. 25, 2008 Republicans are more and more critical of the Mccain campaign and many are jumping ship since Colon Powell announce he supports Obama on Meet The Press a week ago. Govenor Palin is the number one reason with 55% in the poll saying she is not ready to be president should the Republican ticket win and God forbid something happen to Mccain who is 72 years old. Last week MSNBCNEWs had Obama at 264 electoral votes short 6 eletoral votes to win the election if it was held that week. Today Oct. 25 Obama could win the election with Nevada and Colroado, which seem to be going democratic and may not even need Pennsylvania to become president in November.
I can’t believe that the Mccain campaign would get sucked in by story like this without checking the facts first. If Mccain really took the time to call this girl and her parents thinking this was going to be the October surprise that he needed to turn the election around, I think he blew it. This goof in my opinion will cost him the election if he hasn’t lost it already.
Oct, 27: Scott Mcclellan yet another Republican for Obama.

Trying To Decide Who Is The Best Candidate Oct. 19 2008: As an independent I had not made up my mind who to vote for with a little over two weeks left to the election. Circumstances first moved the polls toward Obama for a couple of days this summer and to McCain for a week after the Palin nomination, and now back to Obama. Things have been changing so rapidly that anything can happen and two weeks is a lifetime. However, today for the first time I am leaning towards Obama. The endorsement of Colon Powell on Meet The Press and all the reasons he mentioned today made me reflect on how McCain has run his campaign. Some of the choices he has made have forced him to make the ”Hail Mary Pass” his signature move. I have never doubted that McCain is a patriot and a great America but since he selected Governor Palin as his Vice-President the gamble that seemed like a brilliant move has turned out to be a disaster for the Republican ticket. Having watched Palin on a couple of unflattering interviews I have been uncomfortable with her choice since she has been kept away from the media. I think if they had let her face the public scrutiny she might have improved. We will never know and meanwhile doubt has built against her. Other Republicans besides Colon Powell are in agreement. At a time when this country is facing so many issues it is a big question mark whether Sarah Palin is qualified to be president if anything should happen to McCain and he were president. The experience issue about Obama has been taken away meanwhile by this endorsement. McCain has run a tactical campaign on Obama’s character that has not panned out. Strategically, Obama has run a campaign like a war general that has made me question McCain’s judgement. In a world where everything a presidential candidate says is recorded McCain’s statement that the economy is not his strong suit loom over the inconsistent reactions McCain has had to the crisis on the economy.
It has been great to see the old Mccain on Letterman and at charity, which was also attended by Obama where they both traded jokes. Too bad Mccain lost that wonderful sense of humor before he got it back, that is the John Mccain I remember. I haven’t counted out McCain, however, the man is amazing. Win or lose I would like to remember him as the man I have seen the last couple of days. No, I can’t count him out, ten, twelve days is a long time and with McCain turning on the charm anything could happen. There is also the Bradly effect that everybody keeps talking about. Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradly a few years ago was ten, fifteen points ahead on the polls when he ran for govenor of California and he lost. I hate to say it but some people are still not comfortable with a black man as president. We will see if the bad news of the economy trumps Racism. Hopefully, If Obama is elected he will be the strong president I think he can be and govern from the middle in what will be a one party government with Democrats Nancy Polisi and Harry Reid heading congress.

The Right Leadership Can Make A Difference -My thoughts on Oct. 18 2008. Whoever is elected in November is destined to make history because the challenges that will face this nation and the new president in January 09 will be daunting. However, looking back at the history of our nation other presidents have faced problems of equal dimensions if not bigger. Two of our greatest presidents, Lincoln a Republican presided over the Civil War, and Franklin D. Roosevelt a Democrat confronted the Great Depression and World War II, enormous challenges that tested our country. For those of us who are too young to remember we are the closest we have ever been to experiencing a repeat of the 1930’s. America is facing the biggest financial crisis and fighting wars on two fronts. Needless to say this may be the most important election of our life time. Time and again challenges of this magnitude have faced America and made her better, we must not allow the problems we face today to be the exception. The right leadership can make a difference, don’t let anyone tell you that it does not matter who you vote for. It is our responsibility as voters to pay attention and make an informed decision when it comes to selecting the next president of the United States, and most important to make sure that we vote. Both campaigns are running under the banner of change and the question is who is better qualified to make the right changes.

So here is what someone close to me says about my Palin abortion blog...
"I always seem to end up contradicting myself when this subject comes up in conversation...it's one of the most difficult subjects to separate from...do we lead with our hearts? or our heads? my head tells me that a woman's right to an abortion is sacred...it is her decision to determine where her life will go...and whether or not a baby "fits" into her plans. however...i have had three babies...all beautiful sons...and the thought of aborting any one of them keeps me from jumping into this debate with a whole heart. abortion should NOT be used as a method of birth control...of that i am sure. should a woman think first before getting pregnant? of course...but that just is not real life in many many instances. two of my children were NOT planned. interestingly, the one pregnancy that WAS planned occured at a difficult time in my marriage...and for a short time, i did think of terminating it. i didn't...and my choice has never been "second-guessed"...i made the right decision...then...and now. sarah palin's conviction regarding abortion is predicated on a RELIGIOUS belief that life begins at conception. yes...i believe that too...but my thoughts around "life" differ from hers in that i believe that the life we're talking about is in the embrionic phase...it is a life that cannot sustain itself outside the mother's uterus...and thus, is not "equal" in value to the life of the woman carrying that embryo. we have, on one hand, a complete woman...mature & adult (in the physical sense). and we then have an embryo...clinging to its mother's womb for sustanence. does it have a "soul?" i don't know. but does the WOMAN have a "soul?" surely she does. scientifically, the cluster of cells making up the embryo is NOT a human being...but is the beginning of a human being...just as the cluster of cells making up the pollywog is the BEGINNING of a frog. might i add that the two clusters of cells, when compared in structures, are much alike at the early stages of development. so...when should abortion be denied to a woman? that is a very subjective argument...one of opinion...and not easily argued. my opinion? no abortions after the first trimester...period. why? at that point, it is possibile to identify the fetus...as a male or female...it is possible to detect a definite heartbeat...it is possible that the fetus "feels" pain or discomfort...it reacts to stimulus. at that point, my emotions tell me that there is BABY there...not just a gathering of developing cells.a contradiction...don't you agree? but life is like that. there are so many times when we think one thing...and do another. and it is never easy to make decisions of this sort. but i do think that the decisions regarding abortion should NOT be made by old men sitting on high benches dressed in black robes...they have no idea what they are doing. each woman must be able to determine FOR HERSELF what her life will be...and where her destiny will take her."
I thank them for thier comments....now what do you all think?

What do we really know?
So we all know that this year's election is huge and it's right around the corner! But with all of this hype about the candidates, have we forgotten about what we as American people stand for? Have we all researched the Propositions that are trying to be passed or not, have we studied the income budgets, the stock market, or even the educational concerns? Tell us your thoughts. What props will you be voting yes for? No for? Come on all, it is now the time to speak up, afterall in a couple weeks isn't it going to be time for a change?

Thoughts about the Abortion Law?
Hey Everyone, new to blogger.com and I am one of three people writing in a joint blog for an English class.
Anyway-more intros to come later.
I just wanted to know what everyone here thinks about Sarah Palin wanting to inforce a new abotion law (a null of Roe v. Wade if you will)?
I am interested to hear all the different opinions out there.
Thanks,
anglspice
